Good day. I’m setting up a new Veeam 12.1 on-prem environment. Currently the Veeam B&R server is not domain-joined. We are working on a separate management domain, but it’s not yet ready. And, I don’t think it should matter as a workgroup setup is a recommended best practice.I’m attempting to add an SMB file share from a domain-joined Windows 2019 file server to Veeam, but it’s not able to access the file server share. For instance, the file server is “fileserver01” and the share is “P$”. I can navigate to it from my desktop or a domain server using “\\fileserver01.domain.com\p$”. I have tried using my domain credentials as well as the local file server administrator account (fileserver01\administrator), but Veeam cannot access that file share.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
With Microsoft releasing Windows Server 2022, Veeam have delivered support for this in Veeam B&R and Veeam ONE v11a. This includes support not just for protecting Hyper-V VMs on the OS, or guest OS support, but also running all the relevant Veeam Components and services on Windows Server 2022. This is truly a great milestone that Veeam have achieved so promptly after the release of this operating system. There’s more to this story however, Veeam currently ships with SQL Server 2016 Express edition as its default database if you don’t choose to install your own first. This will leave you in an unsupported state with Microsoft as only SQL Server editions still within mainstream support are supported for Windows Server 2022, for SQL Server 2016, mainstream support ended in July 2021.Now we know the danger, we’ve got two topics to discuss up again, firstly, how do we install a supported version of SQL Server for Veeam? And secondly, what do I do if I’m running SQL Server 2016 on Windows
Another great one inspired from our top Veeam Agent in the UK MP! You have a customer that wants physical servers to backup to offsite (Cloud) object storage directly. They also want to use the Veeam Agent to protect key business stakeholders (C-suite) devices wherever they are around the globe. To prevent opening the cloud storage to accept connections from any public IP address, you decide to force the endpoints to connect indirectly to object storage, using a gateway over the corporate VPN.To achieve this, you create your Veeam backup repository as object storage, specify the connection mode as direct, and set access permissions to “provided by the backup server (traffic goes through a gateway server)”You then create backup jobs that are managed by the VBR server to target the servers, and create backup job policies that are managed by the Veeam Agent for the device endpoints. What happens when you test this? And what is used as the gateway?
You have been tasked with setting up a NAS Veeam backup environment.Where should a File Backup Proxy be located?
Hey guys,I have the same random problem with my Proxies (Windows), VMDK are still attached to my proxies randomly once the job finish. The proxies are not backuped during the different backup jobs. The Vms that Veeam processed is found to require consolidation. On the vmware side I found a log " Unable to access file since it is locked An error occurred while consolidating disks: Failed to lock the file. Consolidation failed for disk node 'scsi0:0': Failed to lock the file." at the end of the backup job.But I don’t find the root cause. Have any of you ever encountered this problem?
I’ve been googling and am about to open a support case, but I’m checking here first. I have just built my first linux proxy servers using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Super easy, works great. Except I have two more that I’m trying to build as CDP proxy’s. I can setup as regular VMware Proxy’s, but when I attempt to install the CDP Proxy, I get the below errors.Error Failed to save Veeam CDP proxy: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it <IP Address>:6182Error Infrastructure item save failed Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it <IP Address>:6182 This is my first time using Linux CDP proxy’s. I did have Windows Proxy’s in place but was having an issue with starting the CDP service on those machines after upgrading to 12.1 and decided to just remove those VM’s because they were 2012 R2 and are being replaced/retired anyway. Unfortunately, I’m not super well-versed in Linux so I’m learning here. T

What is a Suggest Strong Password? While one might assume that the answer to this question is highly subjective, it is, in fact, quite the opposite. In its most straightforward sense, we suggest strong password ideas which proves challenging to crack. The effectiveness of a password lies in its strength, serving as a robust defense against hackers and malicious actors. A powerful and reliable password can require millions of years to decipher, acting as a deterrent that discourages hackers from attempting unauthorized access.
Hello, I would like to use CDP to replicate my VM from DC to DRC, I have 2 vcenter on DC and DRC. I have already installed VBR server on DC site So do I have to install I/O in each vcenter (DC & DRC) by using Veeam console in DC or I just have to install I/O in vcenter on DC ? Thank you
